The solo works of Vienna Percussion Editions currently focus on vibraphone and marimba — ranging from intimate, restrained pieces to works with a strong melodic presence.
Several pieces include improvisational sections and invite performers to engage creatively with the material. In this context, original works and transcriptions are closely connected: transcriptions preserve improvised performances, while compositions deliberately leave space for improvisation and interpretation.
All works are conceived from a performer’s perspective and aim to place musical thinking and a playful approach to the instrument at the centre.
