Waltz for Debby is presented here as a solo arrangement for vibraphone, based on an improvised performance by the editor, which was subsequently transcribed and prepared for publication. The notation captures a specific musical moment and is intended as a flexible framework rather than a fixed interpretation.
The theme is introduced in free rubato and leads into a solo that develops into a jazz waltz in the character of the original composition. The music then returns seamlessly to the theme, which, in contrast to the opening, continues the more flowing waltz motion. The piece concludes with a short rubato passage, bringing the form full circle.
Chord symbols provide harmonic orientation and allow the material to be adapted or developed as desired.
This edition offers a playable and clearly notated version that preserves the character of an improvisation while remaining open to individual interpretation.
