About

Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka is an arrangement of Johann Strauss’ lively concert polka for percussion quartet.

The wit and energy of the original are translated into a compact mallet ensemble setting. Short, playful gestures and deliberately placed subtle humorous details highlight the character of the piece without tipping into caricature.

The use of desk bells also adds a visual element. A virtuosic solo in the da capo brings the xylophone to the foreground — a moment that might well have appealed to Strauss.
