Florentiner Marsch is an arrangement of Julius Fučík’s well-known march, conceived as a double-sided flip edition for percussion quartet (with optional tuba) and Large Percussion Ensemble (7–10 players).
Both versions feature a prominent solo for musical saw, giving the piece a distinctive colour and a slightly theatrical character. If the musical saw is not available, another unusual instrument may be used instead.
The Large Percussion Ensemble version offers greater flexibility in instrumentation, with optional percussion parts, and is at the same time the most demanding work within the Large Percussion Ensemble series.
Both versions may be performed independently or combined.
Instruments set in italics are optional.
The score for large percussion ensemble uses color coding to indicate the relative difficulty levels of the individual parts, supporting balanced ensemble planning.
These indicators are specific to the ensemble setting and should not be compared directly with difficulty levels in solo or duo repertoire.
