Afro Blue

This edition is a detailed transcription of Afro Blue as performed by Gary Burton and Makoto Ozone, based on the DVD Live at Montreux 2002.

The transcription captures the musical interaction between the two performers as precisely as possible in notation. The video source allows for a high level of detail, particularly in elements that are otherwise difficult to hear, such as subtle accompanying figures or specific voicings.

Chord symbols and section markers provide orientation within the form and may serve as a basis for individual improvisation. Sticking and damping indications for vibraphone are included where they are either clearly derived from the source or musically relevant.

The edition includes a full score as well as separate parts for both instruments and is equally suited for rehearsal, performance, and analytical study.
